Apple Unveils MacBook Air
Apple showed off the thinnest notebook computer in the world at the 2008 MacWorld Expo in mid-January. The MacBook air may find a fairly limited audience. In order to acheive this incredible thin frame, the Air has no built-in optical drive, and only offers one USB port. Even though Apple has come up with another revolutionary product in the Air, the vast majority of road warriors are not going to find it flexible enough to meet their needs. Call us if you want more details about the MacBook Air and if it may be appropriate for you.

Our Latest Product Ratings

Product Name
Rating
Apple MacBook (Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz)
Superior build quality, excellent performer for the price. Very bright, crisp glossy screen. Wonderful keyboard feels exceptionally solid. We wish Apple offered higher screen resolutions on all of their notebook computers. One or two more USB ports would be a big plus. Bottom gets real hot. Beautiful surface scratches very easily.
Parallels Desktop for Mac v1.0
Microsoft Visual FoxPro v9.0
Globesoft MultiNetwork Manager v8.x
Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705
Overall build quality average at best, but excellent performer with superb graphics (WUXGA @ 1920x1200). Large number of USB ports. Nice media buttons on front for convenient audio/video control.
Windows XP Professional SP2
Windows is simply not secure. We've been in this business for 12+ years and have never seen Microsoft improve its OS enough to keep out viruses and spyware. Hopefully this will change with Vista. Windows still runs more applications, and offers more customization possibilities than Apple's Mac OS X, but the lack of innovation and security coming from Microsoft continues to disappoint us.
Apple Mac OS X 10.4
Apple Mac Mini (PowerPC G4)

* Some products get very low ratings due to poor product support, low quality, or a large number of bugs. Toshiba has some of the worst support we have ever witnessed from a computer company (based on personal experience, as well as horrible experiences from our customers), but their notebook computers are good performers and well built for the most part.
